When you see the RSPCA Approved logo on turkey you can be confident that this product has come from a farm with a focus on welfare.

On the farm

Turkeys on RSPCA Approved farms are encouraged to be active. They enjoy good lighting, perches, dry litter floor covering and enough space to move.  Whether raised indoors or with access to the outdoors, there’s a focus on providing for turkeys’ behavioural and physical needs.

Turkeys have

  • Space and good lighting, encouraging them to be active
  • Enjoy dry litter floor covering to scratch and dust bathe
  • Have things to play with, peck and perch on
  • Don’t have their toes clipped

RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme Standards are based on animal welfare science, RSPCA policy, leading farming practices in Australia and overseas and take account of the commercial realities associated with farming. Livestock industries and individual producers also provide input. The standards are reviewed every five years and are publicly available.
