Primo Reserve

Primo Reserve chicken comes from farms that are certified by RSPCA Approved. These farms take pride in rearing their birds in enriched barns to encourage their natural behaviours which ultimately leads to better welfare.

Meat chickens on farms for Primo chicken are reared to the RSPCA’s Standard for Meat Chickens. The standard includes over 400 requirements, each with a focus on better welfare to improve the quality of life for meat chickens. These requirements include providing the birds with perches for improved leg health, dry, friable litter for scratching and dustbathing, and interesting objects to peck at. Quality lighting periods that resemble natural light are also included in the RSPCA’s Standard for Meat Chickens to promote proper rest at night and activity during the day.

RSPCA Approved certified farms are assessed two to four times per year by specially trained RSPCA Assessors who make sure the Standard is being met. As a humane death is equally as important, abattoirs are assessed annually. Primo Reserve products can be found nationally in Coles, Woolworths, and select Independent Grocers.
